A Personal Note from the Author
Greetings.
Thanks for stopping by. I am quite excited about this book. When I was first diagnosed with ulcerative colitis I gobbled up all of the literature I could find on the topic. Mostly they were medical textsencyclopedias of the disease, its symptoms, and the medications available. After I had mastered that introductory material, I was ready for the next step; I was ready to learn how to live my life around the disease. Unfortunately there are few of these books out there and most of them are about other illnesses or too general to offer me specific thoughts about inflammatory bowel disease.
So... I wrote it myself. But this is not a how-to book or self-help book as much as an adventure story. My sense of humor has been my best coping tool while living with IBD, and I have put it to use for your benefit. Told through the funny and awkward situations I have experienced, my story illustrates the life skills and coping methods I have employed in managing life with IBD. And it's a good life. At times hilarious, sometimes sad, always introspective, this book chronicles one man's adventure with Crohn's and colitis.
Since it offers a humorous approach to learning about IBD, it is my hope that patients will share it with their friends and family as a fun way to learn about what it's like to live with our disease. These topics are sometimes difficult to talk about, so I have 'spilled my guts' to help you share this with your loved ones in a way that you can all enjoy. I am sure you have plenty of stories of your own, and if I can help you share your story and spread understanding and compassion about the trials and tribulations of IBD (and enjoy doing it), then I have accomplished my goal.
Thank you for your visit today, and please share us with your friends and family. It is my hope that this web site will serve not only as a place to buy the book, but also a product resource, and just plain fun place to visit and learn about living with IBD. Watch for daily coping tools, reviews of handy accessory products, and much more.
Cheers.
-Andy-
